Exploring the meaning of myth part 1

Mythological stories transcend time and the cultures/societies that created them. They are, in a word, timeless. I’ve spent a considerable amount of my life dedicated to exploring myth and contemplating their meaning and significance. Despite spending years exploring myths, I remain a novice at best.

It's been a long time.

I need to get back here on a regular basis. I need to find some way to blog at least once a week. I’ll see what I can do on that front.

My lack of posting is because of my often hectic schedule. I’ve been busy earning a doctoral degree. I’m almost finished. I just need to defend and then I’ll pretty much be done. Hopefully that will happen in the next few weeks.

Nite Team 4

I fell into the abyss that is Nite Team 4. That's not a bad thing. It's quite a good thing.

Nite Team 4 is a game on Steam. It's essentially an ARG (Alternate Reality Game). You play as you, but you're a member of an elite hacker group. The game is filled with missions where you must hack into networks to uncover secrets and perform espionage.

The game's developers released an add on called Administrator. It's a toolset that allows you to create missions for other players to solve. I live telling stories and this toolset is an interesting way to tell an interactive story.

If you're fascinated by hacking and cyber espionage, then check it out. The hours just melt by.

Grace is...

"Grace is neither gentleness nor fragility. Grace is treating yourself, others, and even inanimate objects with respect." - Kamand Kojouri

Self-control

Self-control is strength. Calmness is mastery. You have to get to a point where your mood doesn't shift based on the insignificant actions of someone else. Don't allow others to control the direction of your life. Don't allow your emotions to overpower your intelligence.

Interesting Spanish Words

I didn't compile this list. I pulled them from a website back in April of this year. I wanted to share them to the Interwebs, mainly for my own future reference.

Merendar - To have a snack or to go out for an afternoon snack.

Te Quiero - Moore meaningful than "I like you," but less meaningful than "I love you."

Pena ajena / Verguenza ajena - To be embarrassed on behalf of someone else.
