The concept of justice

People throw around the word justice. Given their use of the word, it is clear they have never reflected on its meaning.

To seek justice means to seek fairness, legitimacy, and soundness.

Intermittent Fasting

Four weeks ago I started intermittent fasting. I decided to try this since I was experiencing various stomach issues a year ago, which worsened about 4 months ago. Acid reflux became a real issue for me. It became difficult to eat. I would eat three or four bites of food and my stomach felt completely filled. My body was having a difficult time ridding itself of gas in my stomach. I struggled to burp, and when I finally did, my stomach would regurgitate food back up into my mouth and throat.

Needless to say, it was pretty gross.

What is honor and why should it exist?

Honor only exists if it is bestowed by a group onto an individual. By joining a specific group, the group grants a person a set amount of honor. By virtue of admitting a new member into the group, the group recognizes the capacity to act with honor within the individual, which befits membership into their ranks. While being honorable or acting with honor is something we do as individuals, that code of honor is defined and accepted by others. Honor, therefore, is a social agreement about how to act within a given group or as a member of a specific society or culture.

Battling Loom

I started recording and posting videos on my website. The videos are recorded in Loom (which I happen to like a lot). However, not everything is rainbows and unicorns in Loom land. Whenever I record a video, the video is often truncated. Loom tries processing the video but it sort of gives up after awhile. A five minute video can get truncated down to 30 seconds. I’m having to do multiple recordings just to publish 1 video. It’s a bit annoying.

Added a contact page.

I encounter folks all the time who would like to connect. In face-to-face encounters I can hand someone my card. My card has all of the ways to contact me, including the URL to my web page. However, I often meet folks online. I realized that in a virtual setting I don’t have a way for folks to contact me. My site didn’t have a way for someone to actually reach me. Well it does now.

I’ve added a contact page anyone can access via the top navigation. People can use the page to send me an email or schedule time to meet. I connected my site to Calendly. Folks can now schedule time to meet with me either in 15, 30, or 60 minute intervals.

Cheers!

New video content - organizational videos

Today I launched a new (growing) collection of videos. These videos (will) focus on organizational leadership with an emphasis on virtual teams.

The first video is about the state of virtual teams. The data is a tad old only because 2018 is the most recent year with survey data, but the gist of the content holds true.

I actually had to redo this video. Something happened when Loom processed the first video. Loom processed only 3 minutes of a 30 minute video. I had to redo the recording and ensure the full video was processed correctly.

I’m lining up more video content for the coming days.

Cheers!

Darn you microphone!

I just realized that Loom was defaulting my microphone to the built-in mic on my camera. The sound of some of my videos is awful. Well it’s not great. Oh well. Adapt and overcome I guess. I’ll have to double-check the microphone before I record.

Live and learn, I guess.
