New video content - organizational videos

Today I launched a new (growing) collection of videos. These videos (will) focus on organizational leadership with an emphasis on virtual teams.

The first video is about the state of virtual teams. The data is a tad old only because 2018 is the most recent year with survey data, but the gist of the content holds true.

I actually had to redo this video. Something happened when Loom processed the first video. Loom processed only 3 minutes of a 30 minute video. I had to redo the recording and ensure the full video was processed correctly.

I’m lining up more video content for the coming days.

Cheers!

What can video games teach us about decision-making?

I'm reading a book titled "How to measure anything: Finding the value of intangibles in business" by Douglas W. Hubbard. It's a great book. It talks about how to approach difficult business problems so you can find meaningful ways to measure things that are often considered too complex to measure. If you work in the domain of analytics, then there is plenty to learn in this book.

Vituality in Virtual Teams

Virtuality is an important characteristic of virtual teams. Virtuality describes the distance between team members and the level of reliance on technology platforms to do work. Agile and Scrum are not just for software

When I first started down the Agile path, I was skeptical. Over the years I developed a deeper appreciation for it. What's funny is, it wasn't Agile's software development methodology that prompted my linking; rather it was the organizational development concepts of Agile that drove my liking of the concept.

If you know anything about me, you know that even though I like something, I always seem to have a problem with everything.

Software development is like making a TV show.

One of the challenges with software development is that non-technical people in organizations are the ones who solicit software projects. Business leaders, particularly those in marketing positions, demand software and also demand that the new software is not released until it is "done." However, name one person who actually believes that software reaches a done state where zero updates and upgrades are needed.
